Hello, and welcome to this months food round-up.
Whether you are Irish or not you simply cannot miss St Patrick?s day. It is everywhere you look at this time of year. Whether you enjoy the Irish food and drink or you just want to embrace everything that Ireland has to offer, St Patrick?s Day is the ideal time to do it. Ireland is a country that I would love to visit. The beautiful, green countryside combined with food and drink would certainly make this a fantastic get away.
To help you get into the mood for St Patrick?s day this year I have been searching the internet for some of the most delicious ways to celebrate St Patrick?s day. I have gathered together an array of sweet and savoury recipes to help you release the Irish foodie in you!
There is nothing better than a good, hearty stew at this time of year and this recipe from Charlotte?s Lively Kitchen shows you how easy it is to make a traditional Irish lamb stew. This warming dish is full of lamb, vegetables and flavour, you just know that there will be calls for seconds when you serve this to the family!
Soda bread is a loaf that is loved all over the world, especially in Ireland. Fab Food 4 All has given a traditional soda bread recipe a make over with this Easy Cheesy Jalapeno Soda Bread. The creamy flavours from the cheese goes perfectly with the jalapeno chilli to give you a soda bread that is so tasty it will not last long!
When you think of Irish drinks three brands come to mind, Guinness, Magners cider and Bailey?s. When I was asked if I would like to make a Bailey?s cheesecake for Hijacked By Twins I simply could not refuse! This baked cheesecake is pure indulgence on a plate!
On St Patrick?s anything green goes and Foodie Quine shows us how to enjoy some super greens this St Patrick?s day. These Super Greens, Halloumi and Avocado Skewers will provide you with plenty of naturally green food to bring you all the luck of the Irish!
Barm Brack has to be one of my favourite fruit loaves. It is traditionally made in Ireland on Halloween but personally I could eat it all year round. Only Crumbs Remain has created an irresistible combination of barm brack and enriched dough. These Barm Brack Iced Fingers would make a delightful addition to any afternoon tea whether it is St Patrick?s Day or not!
If you love lamb stew and want to make it go even further, with this recipe you can. My hearty lamb pie can be made with either leftover lamb stew or with a slow cooked stew. Either way it will provide you with a deliciously warming meal.
You cannot beat the smell of freshly baked bread in the house but it is time consuming. Thankfully if you need a quick loaf soda bread is the one to make. Recipes Made Easy shows you how to make a traditional Irish Soda Bread. It looks and sounds amazing, I would love a lovely warm slice with Irish butter melting into it!
If you adore Bailey?s and chocolate then the following post is for you. These Bailey?s Truffles from Charlotte?s Lively Kitchen are the quintessential after dinner chocolates. They will go hand in hand with an indulgent Irish coffee, it really will make the finest end to your Irish day!
