The ?snake? part of Snakebird [official site] is pretty clear: you control winding wormoids who grow and loop and get themselves into awkward situations. What does the ?bird? bring to the table? Does one then launch these snakebirds at castles to crush lizardpigs? Do you spin them off into oodles of licensed tie-ins and merchandise deals? (Actually, kids would probably love snakebird cuddly toys.) Nah, as far as I can tell, the ?bird? is simply because they have beaks and make silly bird noises. Good-o!
Snakebird?s a newly-announced puzzler by Nimbus developers Noumenon Games, which is coming out in a fortnight. Come see in a trailer.
As in all Real Video Games, Snakebird has you trying to collect fruit. A noble goal that, worthy of man and beast. Your snakebirds must twist, coil, push, and occasionally teleport to reach it, avoiding hazards like spikes and plummeting into a vaporising void. Beyond that, heck, you and I have mostly the same details to go on: whatever we can see in this announcement trailer.
Snakebird is coming to Windows, Mac, and Linux on May 4th, priced at $6.99 (£4.70-ish).

My favourite video game hybrid animal, for the record, is the slugcat of Rain World. Look at that lil cutie go! There?s something to be said for Atom Zombie Smasher?s Elephantbird too, though I suppose it is technically artillery.
