First look at the forthcoming Warrior blu-ray.
WWE DVD and Blu Ray sales are declining. Sales were down 70% for January and February combined. There are several reasons for this, the most glaring being the WWE Network. There is so much ?free? content on the Network, so why should fans shell out for physical copies?
Then there is the popularity of year-end releases. The end of 2013 saw the release of two big-selling Goldberg and Triple H DVDs whereas the fourth quarter of 2014 only really had the release of the Sting match collection. It?s true that DVD is a dying medium, at least in wrestling, but if there is a release interesting enough fans will no doubt buy it.
Which is where Ultimate Warrior: Always Believes comes in. Warrior is one of the most popular WWE superstars of all-time. A lot of his appeal is based on nostalgia and his (literally) colourful character. But nostalgia sells, and WWE will be hoping that Always Believe is a hit.
There?s certainly an audience for it. Warrior is a merchandising dream and, considering his death occurred a little over a year ago, just after a much-publicised Hall of Fame induction, Warrior fever is still high. But is the DVD any good? Here at WhatCulture we received an advanced copy of the Blu-Ray version and bring you the lowdown on one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
